The dream of the Fore Foundation is to make our community aware of the
adoption process of foster children by:
- Sharing with the community the process of adopting and foster care
- Encouraging families to consider sharing their good fortunes through
adoption, foster care or befriending these special children
- Providing financial assistance to specific families to off-set
initial adoption expenses
The main beneficiary of funding from the Fore Adoption Foundation is Are You My Family? AYMF is a media campaign using real foster children and real adoptive families telling their story in an effort not only to increase community awareness but also to help recruit adoptive families. One of the only assets these children have is their story and the Fore Adoption Foundation has partnered with KTVK-Channel Three, AASK (Aid to Adoption of Special Kids) , and Arizona DES to feature these children and adoptive families in news pieces and advertising so they can tell their story. The Fore Adoption Foundation raises the money, KTVK produces and distributes the message, and AASK and DES provide the administration to make the adoptions happen. Every organization contributes added value by doing what they do best.
The Fore Adoption Foundation also supports Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, a signature program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption that places adoption recruiters in communities across the country whose sole responsibility is to recruit families for foster children. Typically social workers are responsible for all aspects of care and that often leaves precious little time to recruit prospective families. This program is already making a difference in other markets across the country.
The Fore Adoption Foundation also accepts applications for grants from families who might have out of pocket costs associated with a foster or special needs adoption. Applications are reviewed by the board and rank ed based on financial need, reasonableness of the costs involved, and the adoptive child’s situation. Grants are awarded quarterly.
The Fore Adoption Foundation was founded by PGA Tour Golf Professional Kirk Triplett and his wife Cathi. The Tripletts have four children two of them adopted. The Tripletts have always been very open about their experience with adoption as they know first hand not only the joy for those involved but also the benefits to the community as well. As the Tripletts took a more active role in promoting adoption through the Fore Adoption Foundation they came to recognize the importance of finding permanent homes for the children in foster care. The negative statistics for children who are not adopted are staggering, one of the worst problems being that their children are doomed to repeat the cycle. Right now there are over 100,000 adoptable children in foster care but there are also thousands of families waiting to adopt a child, for whatever reason we are not connecting this supply with the demand. Programs like Are You My Family? and Wendy’s Wonderful Kids are a positive step towards making that connection and building families…one adoption at a time.
