I can’t believe there are just several days left in 2006! Where did the year go? I think as I get older, the minutes, hours, days and weeks zoom by faster and faster. Why is that?

Last minute shopping..

December 23rd, 2006

It is ironic doing a last minute Christmas shopping blog entry, when the blog itself is two days late. But…. here goes.
I have found that last minute shopping, although stressful for the giver, is in general quite lucrative for the receiver. Unless, the receiver is someone that may not be at the top of your list. But for the people at the top of the list, it’s well… like Christmas.
Case in point; yesterday I started and finished buying gifts for my wife. We had decided to keep it under $50 for each other this year, but of course we never stick to our budget. I only had one item I really wanted to get her and a few other things I liked. (Shannon, you are to stop reading now) But, while I was shopping I couldn’t find that “one thing” in the right size. So, I ended up buying the other stuff to make sure I was covered. Then in the last store of the day I found what I was looking for, and it turned out they had a two for one type deal, that I would have been foolish not to take advantage of. The moral of the story is… well I blew my budget, but I got everything I wanted (for someone else) and more thanks to procrastination. That’s good, right? :-)

Christmas shopping with the fellas….

Ok..so last week, me and my friend, Mr. Javier Soto, made plans to knock out Christmas gifts for family and friends on Saturday. The time: 2pm. The place: Scottsdale Fashion Center. At the zero hour, I try to get out of it, saying “Man, I don’t feel like dealing with the crowds.” So “Javi” (as Scott McGee and I call him) decides to go there with: “Man, look. This is a yearly tradition for us. This is how friendships stay intact.” Aside from violins going off, homie was laying it on. So..I get dressed and leave, he’s already at the mall and I call him to find out which store he’s in. What does he do to get me back for making him wait 45 minutes? On the phone he says: “I think I see you…wave your hands back and forth.” I do it. “Ok. Now jump up and down so I can make sure it’s you.” I do it. “Ok, spin around till you see me on the 2nd level.” I do it. So you know where I’m going with this by now, right?…He was NO WHERE NEAR where he had me jumping up and down, spinning and looking like a fool in the middle of the mall!! One lady grabbed her daughter and moved out of the way of “that nut.”

Sedona

It seems life is more complicated now than when our parents were our age. Technology (cell phones, computers, text messaging, video games) and life’s other distractions can really take your attention away from finding peace and harmony. If you’re like me, you feel like you’re always playing “catch up.” One way I manage to “re-charge my batteries” and quiet my mind is to go to my favorite place in the world. Sedona, Arizona.

Holiday hoopla

December 13th, 2006

We are mid-month of December and it is holiday mania. Last Friday we wrapped up the GMAZ mall shows, which were a lot of fun. We had an amazing turnout each and every week- in spite of early hours and cold temps. I think the crowd at Metro Center this past Friday might have been the liveliest yet.

Holiday Cheer

December 1st, 2006

(Start singing here)
“Tis the season to be …RUDE!” That’s right, the Holiday season has started and too many grinches have headed to the malls. Unfortunately you won’t find many smiles and wishes of holiday cheer if you go shopping these days, but more likely a slew of impolite people ready to run you over.
