AMBER ALERTS
You probably heard about the Amber Alert issued last Friday after a six-year-old girl was kidnapped from her home in the town of Maricopa in the outskirts of Phoenix. In any child abduction, time is ALWAYS of the essence because according to law enforcement experts, children who are taken by a stranger are usually harmed or killed within the first three hours. Time was certainly of the essence in Friday’s Amber Alert…the suspect…a convicted sex offender.
Time To Play Hooky!
Get ready to use your sick days (not that I condone such a thing) because the biggest party on the PGA Tour is coming to town this week in the FBR Open. If you’ve never attended the “Greatest Show on Grass” – shame on you! The TPC of Scottsdale is the place to be and be seen this week. Over half a million people will be roaming the course in search of a date, cold beer, an autograph and they might even try to watch some golf!
The ladies will be dressed to impress in their new outfits and stiletto heels, while the guys will usually have one too many beverages. Make sure you check out the 16th hole, eat a thunderdog, be patient in line, dress in layers, be sure to stay hydrated, bring suncreen and check out the Birds Nest!
You can thank me later…see you there!
How Quickly They Learn
At the risk of turning into Kathie Lee Gifford (Cody, Cody, Cody!!), once again my topic is on my son Jackson. He just had his second Christmas and second birthday. It’s been a while since he’s had to open gifts. The last time he did, required a lot of “help” in the opening of the gifts. Well, this year he… didn’t. Download file
THANK YOU, SUNS
I mean, really, this team is not getting the accolades or the attention it deserves. If I love watching them play, they gotta be great. They are just plain fun to watch. Especially in person. Pure entertainment. Of course, poor me. I only get to go to a game once in a while. Everyone else in the family hogs the precious tickets. I’m sure this is a scenario repeated thoughout the Valley. The mom gets left behind. And that’s ok. Really. I know I’ve probably been last on the bandwagon. And I’d much rather my kids go. (sniff)
El Niño finally arriving?
The rain and snow which came to Arizona on Friday the 19th could be a sign the expected El Niño weather is about to return to Arizona.
For months, we’ve been talking about long range data which indicates we’ll have wetter and warmer than normal conditions from late January through March. That would be a good thing for a whole bunch of reasons.
Another Cardinals Step in the right direction
I was pleasantly surprised when I found out Sunday the new Arizona Cardinals head coach was chosen so soon and It was Ken Whisenhunt. A Denver Bronco fan since birth (I was born in Denver), I know the feeling of being a fan to a winning organization.
Car Show Or Consumer Electronic Show?
I’m always thrilled when I get to head up to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It’s heaven for a gadget guy, even though I may never understand nor afford to buy most of what I see. But it’s fun to see and it’s fun to dream..
What’s on Bev’s Ipod?
Well, I couldn’t think of anything terribly pressing to “blog” about this month, so I fell back on something I can always talk (or write) about – music. I’ve found a fun new band to listen to.
I’m having a what!!!!!!!!!
It was nothing special. Just your typical Monday morning at the office. I was checking e-mails and waiting for call backs at my desk when I first felt it. It was if someone tied my chest in a knot and then set it on fire. I had trouble breathing, and as it turned out, trouble thinking.
Will the man who offered help, please follow through
On Monday, Jan. 8, I had the pleasure of meeting several caring individuals who are trying to raise enough money to help pay for the funeral costs for 3 /12-year-old Chloe Chance.
I’ve found a great new place!
For all you music and wine lovers, I’ve discovered a new place that combines the best of both worlds! Once you sit down in their cozy leather seats, Blue Note Cellars in Scottsdale offers great food, wine, and various musical acts. I’m headed there tonight for Good Evening Arizona to showcase their Rosemary Infused Pork Tenderloin. In the next couple of months, I hope you take a seat, sit back, and relax!

Night at the Movies
So you got your popcorn, candy, and soft drink. You’re ready to watch a movie that you just paid nearly ten bucks to see and I’ll be darned, you sit next to “the loud guy.” You know the person who’s laugh echoes throughout the movie theater. The one who’s chuckle is so loud, you miss the follow-up joke because you can’t hear. If the truth must be known, I’m “that guy.”
Valley girl heading to Nashville Star
It’s a reality show like American Idol… but for Country singers. Rickiejoleen, from Tempe is only 19 years old, but she rocks the stage like a country music veteran, after all she’s been playing since age 8, when she won her first guitar!
Our Big Day
I’m supposed to write a blog every month on the 2nd. I confess, I forgot to write last month’s blog, but I *was a little busy on the 2nd…becoming a Mrs.
I’ve been stressing out planning the wedding for months and months, but in the end it was without a doubt, worth all the stress.
The weather cooperated, the nine-months-pregnant bridesmaid didn’t give birth that day, and I didn’t pass out on the altar. We danced the night away with our friends and family in my parents backyard, in the far far East Valley. My husband Mark had about 60-70 of his friends and family come in from Texas, and they seemed to be in awe of the Saguaros.
Our first dance didn’t go quite as we rehearsed. It turned out to be a little bit tough to step backwards in my dress. We danced to Stevie Wonder’s “You are the sunshine of my life” as the sun went down over Superstition Mountain. The band was wonderful but we couldn’t seem to stay on rythym, so we just started doing “the robot.” Soon the guests joined in, and the robot somehow became the most popular dance move of the night.
Tammie Coe made us a beautiful cake, Shining Star Band kept the guests dancing the night away and my parents did an unbelievable job transforming the backyard into a reception site! Mark and I felt truly blessed, especially to have all of our friends and family there to share our special day with us. We hope the guests had half as much fun as we did!
