NFL Draft 2009

April 25th, 2009

Big year this year for the Arizona Cardinals. With the success they had in 2008 they were in uncharted territory with the 31st pick in the draft.

With the 31st pick the Cards selected Chris ‘Beanie’ Wells, a running back out of Ohio State University. Pretty good pick at 31 and also signals Edgerrin James’ time with the team is short.

In the second round the Cardinals selected offensive linebacker Cody Brown out of the University of Connecticut.

In the third round the Cardinals selected safety Rashad Johnson from the University of Alabama.

In the fourth round the Cardinals selected corner back Gregory Toler from St. Paul’s College.

In the fifth round the Cardinals selected offensive guard Herman Johnson from Louisiana State University.

In the sixth round the Cardinals selected defensive end Will Davis from the University of Illinois.

The other big piece to the puzzle going into the draft was an Anquan Boldin trade. Rumors were swirling all week about will he or won’t he be back next season in a Cardinals uniform, but it appears as if no substantial offer was made and Boldin will be back (regardless if he wants to be or not).
