‘Toughest sheriff’ in US pushes back against feds

PHOENIX — The Homeland Security Department wants Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Ariz., to stop arresting illegal immigrants who haven’t committed crimes besides crossing the U.S.-Mexico.
The thing is, Arpaio doesn’t much care. He says he’s not going to bend to the federal government.
The Homeland Security Department has reworked the federal program that has allowed Arpaio’s deputies to make federal immigration arrests since February 2007.
It’s not yet known whether Arpaio will sign the new deal. If he doesn’t, his ability to crack down on illegal immigration will be limited.
Eleven agencies in the country have signed the new so-called 287(g) agreement. Sixty-six operating under the old program — including Arpaio’s — were given 90 days starting July 10 to decide whether they want to sign it.

I have lived in Germany for 5 years,went there with papers ,not ILEGALY,
worked, payed taxes ,perfect citizen,no trouble.
Than in 1997 Germans said ,get out ,we don`t want You here anymore,kick out.So ,only thing, thousands and thousands of families could do, was only pack and leave,what you were going to do with your furniture,house,car,and anything else nobody cared,so we left without complaining,cuz we had to respect their decisions,it is their country.
And now we have all these ilegals here and all these idiots who are complaining about Sheriff Joe,going after Mexicans,it is all nonsence.
Sheriff Joe,will come after you ,black,brown,white it does not matter,as long as you are ilegal.People shoul leave MCSO and Sheriff Joe alone,and lett them do their job.
All of You critisizing Sheriff Joe should go to some different countries and see what they do with ilegals,and jails,and then tell something about Sheriff Joe.
I can Just say one thing ,Thx God for Sheriff Joe,without him and MCSO life in this valley would be much different in the bad way.

I am of spanish deccent so you cant acuse me of being raceist.If we were to go to mexico to work we would be refused unless we transfered our aligience.I have lived there and i feel sorry for the peaple who live there but they should protest to their government not come here to protest against ours. If we were to break the law there we would be put in a jail where you could get lice(body) and many other diseases and never know when you get out! At least here they get sent back to their own contry for free!

These politicians voted Against the Nathan Deal Amendment, that would Prevent Health Care Benefits to Illegal Aliens. Simply put–it’s not their BLOODY MONEY! So what! Do they care if taxpayers have to foot the behemoth bill, for anybody who snubs our laws and enters a sovereign country called America? By federal law the hospital will have an emergency on a–EMERGENCY. I am afraid Americans have been Lemmings going over a proverbial cliff, since who knows when? Along with all that they let my father in law go at the same comp. he had been there for that comp through rough times where he worked for free to help the owner get on his feet.

I feel that the Sherrif is doing his job. We do not need any more interference from the Washington groups that want to run the country, instead of letting the voters run their own state. We pay the taxes that operate the state, let us decide how it is run.
It’s not enough that Napolitano bankrupted the great State Of Arizona. She now whishes to furhter damage our state by making us coddle illegal aliens at the tax payers truogh. Insuring the road to economic recovery of the State of Arizona will be as long and painful as possible. Is there no depth of the hatred she holds agianst her country and the great people of Arizona?
